Last week I got to hug a sloth. 🥰 The experience might be right up there with holding my babies for the first time.
Kidding. Just kidding.
But actually, it was a bit of a dream come true and I really, really, really want a pet sloth. Apparently, they only go potty twice a week and basically live their entire life in the same tree, as long as there's food, so I'm feeling like it would make the best pet ever. 😍
Ahhh. Anyway. Saturday morning we said goodbye to our 9 day cruise to Mexico, Belize & Honduras (where I got to hold a sloth). And today - 3 plus days later - I'm still moving.
My body adapted to the movement of the boat so well that even though I've been standing on land for days, my brain hasn't caught up yet and I have what they call "sea legs". Or really - sea body - because I'm rocking and rolling in my sleep too.
And this got me thinking.... our bodies do this with everything!
Your body is always adapting to the inputs it receives.
🦥 If you’ve been eating too little for too long → Your metabolism slows to conserve energy.
🦥 If you’ve been avoiding carbs → Your body loses efficiency at processing them.
🦥 If you’ve been under high stress → Your body adapts by chronically producing cortisol.
🦥 If you’ve been skipping movement → Your muscles get weaker.
And just because you make a change, that doesn't mean you'll see immediate results.
I'm not talking about things like it taking time to lose weight or build muscle.
I'm talking about giving your body the message that it needs to adapt. And a key part of that message is that it has to be consistent.
I have no control over when my brain will realize that the ground isn't moving beneath me, but I'm doing my best to send it all the right signals, and of course just by the mere fact that I'm constantly on stable ground at this point, my brain and body will catch up eventually.
It's incredible how quickly the body can adapt sometimes.
However, we have very little control over exactly when our body will decide to do the thing we want it to do. But with consistency, your body will always adapt.
Let's go ahead and relate this to GLP-1 usage, because these peptides can feel absolutely magical in how they work, getting us to our goal weight in record time. However, magical though they may seem, throughout your journey it's still important to provide your body with the inputs that will keep you where you want to be once you reach your goal.
You might consider using GLP-1 like using training wheels on a bike. It's a great time to test your limits and make mistakes, but ultimately, you want the training wheels to come off, so it's important you learn those crucial skills that will help you stand on your own down the road.
Because if you don’t support the process with the right habits, in the end, your body will still be stuck in old patterns.
This is why I created GLP-1 Done Right—because there's a right way and a wrong way to use this amazing tool that is GLP-1 medications. Not only can you avoid yucky adverse effects, but you can retrain your body by consistently giving it the right inputs that will set you up for long-term success.
✨ Your body will adapt to what you do consistently. ✨
So whether you're just getting started on GLP-1, or you're already at your goal, be sure to check out GLP-1 Done Right. This course will tell you everything you need to know about how these meds work and how to make them work best for you.

Question of the week:
Q: Are headaches normal while using GLP-1?
A: Very normal. In the beginning, most people experience headaches more often. There are several reasons this may be happening. You may be able to avoid headaches by staying hydrated and keeping your blood sugar up (make sure you're eating something regularly).
Over 2 years into my journey, I will occassionally get a headache the day after my injection. This occurs most often when my injection day coincides with the start of my period. Eating always lessens a headache for me, so give that a try and see if it will help you too.
(see lesson 2.6 in GLP-1 Done Right for more info on headaches)
