This past weekend I traveled to attend my nephew's wedding.
At his reception, I was talking to the husband of a friend (more so my sister's friend, but she and I know each other well enough).
We were chatting as the buffet line was in progress, and at some point I told him he should go get in line, to which he replied:
"I'm okay - I'm on GLP-1 so I'm not super anxious to eat."
He just so matter of factly told me, and when he did - I had a little party in my mind and quickly replied "ME TOO!"
Most people are so afraid to let others know that they're on these meds.
And while yes, it's possible that he knew about me because his wife told him... because my sister told her... even still, it made me so happy that he felt he could share that so freely with someone he hardly knew.
I hope we can all get to that point some day.
These meds literally save lives - despite (and in addition to) what's happening with our weight.
Doing something truly life changing for your health is nothing to be ashamed of - even though there are many in the world that will try to make you feel less than because you're taking a "weight loss medication" (but if you know me, you know I've never seen GLP-1 as a "weight loss medication", and if you've done your homework, you know that too.)

So speaking of weddings and traveling, one question I get asked a lot, especially this time of year, is how do you make travel work when you're on GLP-1s.
You have several options here, and essentially, you just need to choose which one works best for your current travel situation.
You can always choose to take your meds with you. If you're on brand name pens, just take the number of pens you need. If you're on compounded, I would recommend prefilling the number of syringes you need for the amount of time you'll be gone.
Keep meds out of the light as much as you can (I use a fabric zipper pouch to travel with my meds.) Don't worry about the time they'll spend out of the refrigerator - just get them back into the fridge as soon as you reach your destination.
Peptides degrade much faster by light than they do by temperature.
Another option is to simply skip your injection while you're away.
I do this, and this is what I recommend the most, when you're planning to be gone for less than 7-10 days. You may notice some increased hunger, but with that, I always recommend taking full advantage and eating as much as you can during that time. If you've been on the meds long enough, and you've been diligent at getting in as much nutrition as you can the entire journey, this shouldn't be too much of an issue for you.
Then just take an injection as soon as you get home and start your 7 day schedule over from there.
If you're within 48 hours of your next injection before you leave, I would suggest taking an injection just before leaving, and then simply skipping injections while you're away.
The longer you're on these meds, the more you'll see that you can be fairly flexible with your injection day and not have any issues.
In fact, some people end up taking injections every 5 days (at a lower dose) during maintenance.
Or some end up taking injections once a month during maintenance.
But even during the weight loss phase, holding to that 7 day scheduled isn't a do or die situation.
The one thing I wouldn't recommend (and I know from experience), is taking an injection with more than 48 hours until your next dose. For instance, if you're within 3 or more days of taking your next injection before going out of town - just skip it.
You may end up with digestive issues that don't do you any favors while traveling.

Enjoy your summer travels my friend. And don't stress out about your GLP-1s. Take them with you if it makes sense and you're comfortable doing so - or leave them at home. Either way will work just fine.

P.S. I'm hanging out at my mom's and this hummingbird is really wanting to drink my yellow drink. Tried about 150 times to get both her and I in the pic, but she didn't like the camera angle . ❤️
