Call me a conspiracy theorist.
But I just feel like this isn't a coincidence.
I was driving home last Tuesday evening and noticed an airplane creating perfect "chemtrail" circles in the sky. I counted 3 large circles, that likely encompassed my house, and 3 or 4 smaller circles that were a little more to the West.
Unfortunately, my mind was so focused on getting dinner on the table when I got home that I failed to take another look to see exactly how close they were.
Could it have been someone just having a good ol' time flying in circles? Yes - absolutely.
And I really do try to keep a level head when it comes to these kinds of things - like someone is dumping who knows what into the air above us.
But it was weird.
And you know what's even weirder?
The next morning, my husband and I started sneezing our faces off, and my 12 year old started complaining of a "heavy" head and congestion.
I don't know friend. Someone needs to talk me down from this one.
Could we have suddenly come down with something? Sure. But not likely.
As for me, this is 100% histamine related, and a reaction to something in my environment - and I suspect it is for the rest of my family as well.
Honestly just 24 hours before the seriously crazy sneezing began, I was saying that I was like 75% better from all my MCAS issues.
I was feeling phenomenal compared to the last several months. I knew I wasn't 100%, but most of my symptoms were almost completely gone.
And now I'm on day 5 of a flare and not only dealing with the anxiety that accompanies all the histamine related symptoms, but I also jumped 5 pounds on the scale suddenly Wednesday morning as well.
Yep - inflammation galore.
But I wanted to talk about that weight gain for just a second.
Cause something like this would completely freak most women out.
This is why it's so important to be in tune with your body and realize that not all weight gain is fat gain.
Even though - yes, all my clothes are suddenly tighter and I had to loosen my belt by an entire notch on Saturday.
It sucks.
But I know it's water (inflammation) and I know it's temporary.
However, some people live with this kind of inflammation for years.
I certainly did.
I had a lot of fat too, don't get me wrong.
But I had a lot of inflammation that was just always there since my teenage years.
That's why my first week on GLP-1s I immediately lost 4 pounds, and the weight came off so quickly in the beginning.
Most of that weight loss in the beginning was water (aka inflammation) weight.
Eventually the fat came off too, which is a result of all the amazing things GLP-1 does within the cells.
But you know what happened when I reached what I'm going to call my 'lowest potential weight' on GLP-1s and I started lowering my dose?
I gained some water weight back.
Like 5 pounds of it.
And then I maintained that for over a year (and would still be there except that 5 days ago I decided to suddenly pack on another 5 pounds... super fun times).
The point I want to get across to you is that when you lose weight with GLP-1s (or any low-calorie diet), if there has been any amount of going too low calorically (which, let's be honest, is almost 100% likely unless you started at a tiny dose and stayed at a tiny dose), you will very likely gain some water weight back when you start increasing food and decreasing your dose.
There are multiple reasons for this, which I explain in Modules 3 and 4 of GLP-1 Done Right. Inside the course, I also help you create a plan that will help prevent sudden extreme hunger and weight regain. The summary of that plan is that you need to make sure you're eating as much as possible while you're on the meds - try to stay at appropriate caloric intake your entire journey (I know it can be impossible at times).
This step backwards in my journey feels brutal. It's knocked me down, physically and emotionally.
But I'm determined to keep fighting and win the battle.
And I know you're a fighter too because you're here.
Cause sometimes that's all we can really do, right?
Keep up the fight my friend!

P.S. Spring has finally made it to my corner of the world! We're in the season of Green! 😍 (Still cold today though 👎🏻). Also - the puff in my face is no joke. Please bless this flare passes quickly.
Question of the week:
Q: Why am I so tired on GLP-1?
A: I think I answered this recently, but it came up again this week. This is a very normal response. GLP-1 is affecting cells in several ways and your body is doing a lot of work behind the scenes. The body's number 1 way to recover is sleep, so it's demanding a lot of rest right now. You can lower your dose if the fatigue is too much, or just push through it (meaning - REST when you feel you need to... which could be a lot!). But be prepared - while fatigue likely won't last forever (at least while you're on the meds), it could potentially last months. Be gentle with your body and listen to the cues it's giving you.
