Last summer, a beautiful weed started growing in my chicken yard.
It had delicate, interesting flowers, and because it was so pretty, I let it stay.
After all, my chickens use weeds for shelter (yep - they get big 'round here), as well as for food.
But upon identification of this weed, I learned it has an interesting name.
Henbane.
It's literally poisonous to hens.
But it was soo pretty, and it was behind a small fence so they left it alone.
One poisonous weed didn’t seem like that big of a deal anyway.
This year?
Dozens.
Henbane is invasive.
And did I mention it's toxic? Especially to hens.
Because I simply left one single weed alone and didn’t pull it early, it’s now everywhere in my chicken yard.
So now I get to spend loads of time digging it out by hand before it spreads further or poisons my chickens.
There are many lessons in this.
But it made me think of the “beautiful weeds” we let grow in our own lives.
These might be habits or beliefs that don’t seem harmful at first, or they may even seem healthy - until they multiply and become invasive or toxic.
Things like:
Scrolling your phone to "wind down" while laying in bed.
Forcing yourself to go to the gym even though you're exhausted.
Skipping meals.
And if you're on GLP-1, it might be things like thinking a total lack of hunger is a good thing.
At first, these habits might feel responsible, effective or even helpful.
But just like the weed I didn’t pull, they grow roots.
Before you know it, you’re completely lost in the weeds - undernourished, exhausted, and unsure how to dig out
Just like henbane, the things keeping you stuck aren’t always obvious - or ugly.
They might even look “healthy” on the surface.
But they’re draining you.
Inside the Done Right Wellness Vault, I help you gently uproot the toxic patterns (and beliefs) that may be keeping you stuck, and we replace them with small, nourishing habits that grow something better.
And of course, you don’t have to pull every weed at once.
You just need to start with one.
I'd love for you to hit reply and tell me the beautiful weeds that are keeping you stuck. Whatever you're dealing with is probably exactly what other women are dealing with.
Til next time friend!

P.S. This is the 4th year we've joined our awesome neighbors in their annual hike up the hill in front of our house on the Saturday before Mother's Day. It's a mile and a half of huff and puff. So much harder than it looks, but always so rewarding!
Question of the week:
Q: What is A1c and what percentage should it be?
A: In simple terms, HbA1c is a blood test that measures your average blood sugar over the last 2-3 months. Ideally, you want this number to be between 5 - 5.6. Anything between 5.7 - 6.4 is considered pre-diabetic, and anything over 6.4 will land you with a type 2 diabetes diagnosis. GLP-1 medications were first brought to market to help lower A1c, and they do an amazing job at this. You can learn all about A1c and how to talk to your doctor about testing it within GLP-1 Done Right.
