I'm a pretty "Bah Humbug" person when it comes to holidays.
Except Christmas. I love Christmas.
I used to spend hours and hundreds of dollars at the craft store getting things to decorate my house all fun and fancy for every holiday (except St. Patrick's Day.... that one is a no-go no matter how you slice it).
Then I don't know what happened.
Some combination of I didn't want to buy or store decorations anymore. Or maybe I became too lazy to put things up just to take them down again. Or maybe I just decided life was perfectly fine without making me feel like I had to go the extra mile for a holiday that didn't really have any true meaning to me.
(I told you... Bah Humbug.)
Honestly, I don't know why I can't get into most holidays anymore, but I do feel perfectly content with my life so I think I'm doing just fine. 😜
But I am a sucker for tradition, and I've wanted to build fun and memorable traditions for my kids.
So there are certain holidays that I go the mini mile for. And Valentine's Day is one of them.
On Valentine's Day, it's tradition that I clean my kid's rooms and place a box of chocolates on their pillow. My husband's too.
Honestly, it's the bare minimum, but it's something that I'm excited to do every year.
It's just a small token that shows my love and I know they look forward to it every year too.
The older I get, the more I learn about myself (hopefully you've experienced that as well). And one thing that I've learned is that I'm a natural rebel type and I don't do well with expectations put on me by other people.
Even (especially) if those "other people" are just made up social pressures like having big birthday parties for your kids, elf on the shelf (please, for the love, I could not do that), or making my house cute and getting up early to make pink heart pancakes for breakfast on Valentine's Day.
I'm leaving all that to the professional Instagram influencers. They can have that glory.
No, I'm happy to just be my own person doing my own thing. Keeps the stress low, ya know?
I've also learned that I'm pretty darn competitive - especially with myself. And this has caused me some issues in the past.
Going all out, then failing, then feeling bad about myself, then doing nothing for a time, then getting hyped up to start all over, then going all out, then failing, etc, etc. You see the pattern.
Maybe you've lived that pattern too.
So years ago, I decided that doing the bare minimum is really okay sometimes.
Not only does it help me actually succeed, but I always feel good about myself too!
Winner, winner.
It's not that I don't want to improve who I am. Oh - I'm ALLLL about improving who I am. I've just had to change the way I go about doing that.
By making it simpler. And simple helps me to win. And winning motivates me to do more. And when I do more, I make real, meaningful progress towards my goals.
Instead of giving up and feeling like a failure, I just dumb down what I want to accomplish to the bare minimum.
And boom. I end up accomplishing my big goal. And I might even be excited about working towards it in the meantime.
This is what my new program, Healthy Habits Done Right teaches you.
It helps you take a look at your life and the things that are important to you. What do you want to accomplish that you've struggled for so long to actually accomplish? Those things that you get so excited about, try so hard to do until something happens, and then end up never making real progress towards.
It might be something like saving money for a big trip, or learning a new instrument, or becoming a morning person, or actually exercising regularly. Maybe it's getting your diet on point, or even getting that one thing done that you've been telling yourself to just do for years, or maybe it's forming those important holiday traditions without feeling overwhelmed just by the thought of it.
We all want to become better versions of ourselves.
But sometimes we're stuck in feeling like our past efforts define our future outcomes.
They don't have to.
In Healthy Habits Done Right, I'll show you exactly how to dumb down those things that are important to you so you can actually feel success, make progress, and succeed long term.
I'll help you write the roadmap that starts with the bare minimum but will get you to the finish line by making it feel like a breeze all the way there.
If you want to get started on finally making progress towards the goals you've struggled with in the past, this is the program for you!
The program will be available in my new Done Right Wellness Vault in March 2025. Inside, I'll walk you through how to make real progress towards your goals, and I teach it to you step-by-tiny-step. In 10 days you'll have a new habit (or 3) in place that you'll be excited about and that will get you doing those things you been failing to get done for so long.
I trust you can change and I will help you to trust yourself too.
Loves and hugs on this upcoming Valentine's Day! I'd love to hear what you do for your Valentines. Hit reply and let me know!

Question of the week:
Q: What if I can't afford GLP-1 medications anymore?
A: It's so unfortunate, but money is one of the biggest reasons GLP-1 medications are hard to access for so many people. They're truly so expensive - I get it! If you've been on GLP-1 and can no longer afford it, you need to wean off as slowly as you can to try to maintain progress that you've made. Use the diet principles I teach in module 4 in GLP-1 Done Right to get your diet on point, and if you've been low carb, use the time while you're still on GLP-1 meds to really ramp up those carbs so your body will know how to process them once you're off the meds.
